Alexandra M. Coglianese, Esq. (“Alex”) is a skilled and experienced litigator specializing in all facets of family and matrimonial law and a partner with the firm. Ms. Coglianese’s practice includes marital dissolution and non-dissolution proceedings, child custody and support matters, drafting and negotiation of pre-nuptial agreements, and all aspects of pre and post-judgment litigation.

As a dually degreed attorney and Licensed Social Worker (LSW), Ms. Coglianese is frequently appointed as a Guardian ad Litem for minor children, and is often peer selected, and Court-appointed, as a Parent Coordinator in high conflict child-related cases.  Additionally, Ms. Coglianese is often Court-appointed to serve as counsel, and Guardian ad litem in Chancery Division Adult Guardianship matters.

Ms. Coglianese is a trained collaborative law practitioner and serves as the sitting Secretary for the Collaborative Divorce Association of North Jersey.  Ms. Coglianese is a certified economic mediator, mediating private, as well as post-MESP matters.

Ms. Coglianese began her legal career as a judicial law clerk to the late Honorable John E. Selser, J.S.C. (Ret.) in the Superior Court of New Jersey, Passaic County Family Division. During her clerkship, Ms. Coglianese was trained, and certified, as a mediator in both small claims and landlord-tenant matters. Since completion of her clerkship, Ms. Coglianese has worked exclusively in the area of family and matrimonial law.

While in law school, Ms. Coglianese served as a teaching assistant, member of her law school’s moot court board, as a judicial extern for United States Chief Magistrate Judge Maria-Elena James in the United States District Court for the Northern District of California and as an intern in the San Francisco District Attorney’s Office Career Criminals Division.

Ms. Coglianese is a member in good standing of the New Jersey Bar, the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey, the District of Columbia Bar and the New York Bar. Ms. Coglianese served as a past member of the Supreme Court of New Jersey’s District Ethics Committee for District VI – Hudson County, and is an active member of numerous professional organizations, including the New Jersey State Bar Association, the Bergen County Bar Association, and the Collaborative Divorce Association of North Jersey (CDANJ). Ms. Coglianese also volunteers her professional time serving as a member of the Early Settlement Panel and FD Consent Conference Panel in Bergen County.  Ms. Coglianese has been asked to serve as a member of the New Jersey State Bar Association’s Family Law Executive Committee’s Guardian ad litem Task Force.  She is also regularly asked to lecture on a variety of family law-related topics for Continuing Legal Education programs, which have included serving as a Trainer for the Parent Coordination Training Program, as well as lecturing in Lyon, France for the International Academy of Law and Mental Health.
